Welcome to www.jasonemerson.com, a repository of information about Jason's historical research and writing projects, which focus on the life and times of Abraham Lincoln and his family. September 2007 saw the release of Jason's first book, The Madness of Mary Lincoln, by Southern Illinois University Press. The book is a new examination of Mary Todd Lincoln's insanity case (the first such examination in twenty years) and her son, Robert's, motivations for having her committed to a sanitarium in 1875. It is based on Jason's discovery of Mary Lincoln's twenty "lost" insanity letters, for which historians had been looking for eighty years, as well as numerous other unknown and unpublished items unearthed during Jason's research. To read an excerpt, click here. NEW! The Madness of Mary Lincoln has been named 2007 BOOK OF THE YEAR by the Illinois State Historical Society!
NEW! Jason was rated the TOP FORUM LECTURER of 2007 by attendees of Lincoln Forum XII!
Jason's new book, Lincoln the Inventor, will be released by SIU Press in January 2009!
Jason currently is at work on his biography of Robert Todd Lincoln, the oldest Lincoln son. If you'd like to contact Jason, send him an email at jsnemerson@gmail.com.

In January 2008 my cousin, Meredith Emerson, was the victim of a terrible crime that, unfortunately, made national headlines. A fund has been created in her memory to help support the Longmont Humane Society in her hometown of Longmont, Colorado, because of Meredith's love for animals. If anyone is interested in supporting this cause and contributing to this light of Meredith's memory, please visit the Firstgiving website. Meredith's family and friends also have created a nonprofit organization called Right to Hike to promote hiker safety in memory of Meredith's love of hiking. Please visit the Right to Hike website to learn how to participate or donate to this great cause. Thank you.
